Dialogic Curriculum Development

• The building blocks of a dialogic curriculum are Instructional Dialogs and Dialog Units.

• An online Instructional Dialog is comprised of synchronous and asynchronous communications between a teacher and a group of students.

• Dialogs may include assessments, activities, lesson plans, lessons, assignments, and instructional resources. Resources may include documents, images, video presentations, multimedia displays, web links to online instructional content, and other Dialogs.

• A Dialog Unit specifies the scope and sequence of instruction during a relatively short time period. The Unit indicates objectives to be covered and key concepts to be addressed. In addition, a Unit generally includes sample lessons and instructional resources to assist the teacher.

• The complete set of units defines the course of study or curriculum for a given subject.

• Dialogic curriculum development is achieved when Dialogs are linked to Dialog Units and Dialog Units are linked to a Dialog Book.
